The first-ever European Electric Vehicle Congress (EEVC) will be held in Brussels, Belgium in late October, 2011. EEVC aims to foster electrified vehicle-related discussions between research institutes, industry, non-governmental organizations and public authorities. The goal is to ensure that only the most promising and optimum technologies are selected, while taking into account environmental and economical constraints,

EEVC 2011 is being organized by Frédéric Vergels, secretary general of AVERE, the European Association of Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. Vergels says that sustainable urban mobility requires a roadmap and claims that the goal of EEVC is to foster synergies and develop a workable roadmap that has virtually no impact on the integrity of ecosystems and produces no more emissions than can be accommodated by the world's restorative ability.

Automakers BYD, Nissan, Renault, Audi, Tesla Motors, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and Daimler are on the extensive list of EEVC 2011 participants.
